"Investigating Biblical Truths"
I recently got a puppy. The other evening, I put her in a corral on the porch while I was working in my flower beds. Every time I would leave her sight, she would start to cry. After several times of trying to comfort her from afar, I walked back to the porch and said “I’m right here working, you just can’t see me!” – Instantly, the Holy Spirit spoke to me. How quick are we to do the same thing as God’s children? We are so small and finite that we often have trouble seeing the bigger picture. Sometimes, it may feel like God is “far away” or that he cannot hear you, but he is never far. He may be working on your behalf, uprooting things, pruning things, and planting things that you cannot see. Romans 8:34 states that Jesus sits at the right hand of the father interceding on our behalf. Psalm 145:18 says, “The Lord is near to all who call on him.” There may be moments that we are afraid and doubt God’s presence in our lives. The truth is, God’s promises remain the same. He is near to all who call on him. Just as a puppy grows to be less afraid of being alone, we can mature as Christians to believe in the promise that he never leaves us – and he is right there when we call.
As I began to thank God for his faithfulness, I continued to work in my flower beds. I was thinking of the Parable of the Weeds (Matthew 13:24-43). Verse 25 says, “But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.” This verse is speaking of the kingdom of God; the enemy in this verse is Satan. Satan takes no days off. While we are caught up in daily life, there is an enemy who is trying to sow spiritual “weeds” in our lives. If you have a flower bed or garden that you don’t regularly maintain, when you eventually come back to tend to it, it will be overgrown with weeds. It is the same thing with our spiritual life. This is why 1 Peter 5:8-9 warns, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith..” Sometimes a weed can look small, but underneath the soil, the roots run wide and deep. We must always remain alert and stand firm in our Faith. Thankfully, we have a Father who also takes no days off. He never sleeps, nor slumbers (Psalm 121:4-5). Jesus can remove any spiritual “weeds” from your life. He is near, and he is willing to intercede on your behalf!
If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, but you would like to, please message or comment on this post. Maybe you are someone who feels that God is far away, or that he does not care about the details of your life. I would love to show you more scriptures to refute that idea. Jesus is for you. Grace and peace ✌🏼
